Shopian, Apr 08 (KNO): Over six years later, a vital bridge being constructed over Rambiara in Trenz area of Shopian district is awaiting completion.
Locals said that the construction of the bridge was started in 2017 but was abandoned later.
They said that during the last six years work was started several times but was left midway without completion.
Asif Ahmad, a local said that the work on the project is going at a snail’s pace which is why the project is incomplete.
He said that in absence of bridge the locals are facing problems while commuting towards Pulwama where hundreds of local residents have to reach for jobs, education and business purposes.
“If this bridge will be completed, this will be the shortest route for us to reach industrial estate Lassipora Pulwama,” said Ubaid Ahmad another local resident, while adding that this route will pave way for hundreds of fruit growers to send their produce to cold stores.
He said that work is going on the bridge at very slow place.
They requested the concerned authorities to pace up the work and complete this bridge the earliest.
An official said that the bridge is 600 meter long and is being built at an estimated cost of Rs 31 Crore.
He said that work on the bridge is going on and it will be completed as soon as possible—(KNO)
